Enven though this book is on home interiors it is a great colorbook for picking colors for crocheting. All nice subtle color changes. A must when looking for yarns to design that perfect item.
Edie Eckman: The Crochet Answer Book
This is a great little reference guide.Packed with handy and usful resources. A great addition to your reference library but keep it in your crochet bag for quick referral.

Steel Hooks
I use all kinds and sizes.
Aluminum
Here I prefer Suzan Bates hooks.
Clover- double ended hooks
I have two sets of Clover Japanese double ended (different sizes on each end) hooks that I just love but wish they had larger sizes that way.
Wood Hooks
All types. I do lean towards the one I made in Nancy Nehrings class a few years back. It is very comfortable and getting better with age.

I went off and visited them in late July and fell in love with their "Natures Spectrum" Can't say enough good things about their wool.
